SPRINGFIELD – Joseph Aloysius Pug Randazzo, 97, of Springfield died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born November 10, 1912, in Springfield, the son of Carmello and Florence Coniglio Randazzo. He married Jeanne K. Lunt on March 3, 1946.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Florence (husband, Leonard) Milnik of Chicago; a son, Mr. Camille PeeWee (wife, Cheryl) Randazzo of Springfield; two brothers, Jasper (wife, Judy) of Springfield and Dominic (wife, Nancy) of Rockford; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren; several nieces; one nephew; and several cousins.
Joseph was a barber in Springfield for many years and he owned and operated Pug’s Barber Shop. He served in the Army with the 114th General Hospital in England. He was a World War II veteran. Joseph was a member of St. Cabrini Church and he enjoyed spending time with his children.
Visitation will be held Wednesday December 30, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Staab Funeral Home with prayers at 4:45 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 31, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cabrini Church, with Reverend Richard Chiola officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
