Josef “Joe” Asafailo, 67, of Jacksonville died at 3:36 AM, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 17, 1950 in Ulm, Germany to Joseph and Agnes (Proc) Asafailo. His father preceded him death on February 22, 2010.
Survivors include his mother, Agnes Asafailo of Chatham; two sisters, Rose Marie (John) Kalinauskas of Denver, CO and Anne (Joseph) Felber of Glenarm; one brother, Richard Asafailo of Riverton; five nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Josef was a resident of Jacksonville for most of his life, formerly of Springfield. He had a “love of learning”, enjoyed sports, and playing soccer. He also loved music always having it playing and playing guitar.
Visitation: 5-7 PM, Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 AM, Friday, June 1, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with Reverend Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

I knew Joe when I attended Divine Heart Seminary during my freshman year there in 1966-67. I'm saddened to learn of his passing just now because I am doing research on the school to include in my memoir and I found this posted on FB. May you rest in peace, and light perpetual shine upon you!
