SPRINGFIELD – John Wesley Wes Link, 86, of Springfield died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at St. John’s Hospice. He was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Springfield, the son of John M. and Flora L. Coons Link. He
married Virginia Kane on March 26, 1943; she preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Louise Laveque.
He is survived by two sons, Terry (wife, Kim) Link of Rochester and Gary Link (partner, Rick Dean) of Charleston, S.C.; a grandson, Dylan Link of Rochester; a sister, Barbara (husband, Ken) Snow of Tower Hill; a brother, Albert (wife, Mary Jean) Link of Springfield; an aunt;
and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked as a mail carrier for 32 years.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of the First Church of the Brethren Mail Carriers Union and NARFE.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at First Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Kreston Lipscomb officiating. Private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
