John Roland “Chilly” Roscetti, 94, of Springfield, died at 6:02 pm, Monday, October 29, 2012 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born October 12, 1918 in Riverton to Nicola and Susan Ciotti Roscetti. He married Lora M. DeVries on February 3, 1951 and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Dennis (Jan) Roscetti of Wauwatosa, WI, John Richard (Jerilyn) Roscetti of Springfield, Gregory (Barbara) Roscetti of Worms, Germany and Thomas Roscetti of Jefferson City, MO; one daughter, Suzanna M. Rose of Tucson, AZ; two grandsons, Daniel and Eric Roscetti; two step granddaughters; one sister, Florence Bishop of Carterville, IL; one brother Nick (Peggy) Roscetti of Riverton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents; one daughter, Lori Roscetti and two infant sisters preceded him in death.
John was a U.S Army veteran serving during WWII and with the Army Reserves for many years. He was a member of The Church of The Little Flower. He was a truck driver, worked for Matthews Transfer and Scherer Freight Lines and worked for the Village of Southern View in street maintenance.
Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Friday, November 2, 2012 at Church of the Little Flower with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
