John R. Broughton, 66, of Springfield, IL passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at his home in rural Athens. John was born July 1, 1950 to William “Bill” and Alice Broughton. He married Suzanne on October 11, 2007 and she survives.
Other survivors include; son, Sean (Ami) Broughton; daughters, Jennifer (John) Broughton and Julia (Matt) Broughton; step sons, Michael (Angie) Ray and Shawn (Annette) Ray; eight grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Perry (Rachel) Broughton and David (Jill) Broughton; three sisters, Diane (Dave) Vail, Debbie (Tom) Bell and Cheryl Broughton. Also surviving is lifelong friend, John Benward.
John was officer and owner of PH Broughton & Sons, Inc.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 – 4 pm, Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Elks Club, 409 E. Lake Shore Drive, Springfield. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Remains were cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to Loyola Medical Center, Lung Transplant, Maywood, IL or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
