John M. Jensen

John M. Jensen, 90, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Vibra Hospital. He was born on August 20, 1926 to John L. and Hazel (Haines) Jensen. He married Evelyn Sheppard on March 20, 1947.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Springfield; sister-in-law, Betty Jensen of Crown Point, IN and two nephews, Tom and Bob Jensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Loren Jensen and one nephew.

John was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He worked at Fiat Allis in the Scheduling Department, retiring after 30 years. He was also a United States Navy veteran, stationed on the USS Hanover during WW II.

He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Elks Club and Coin Club, a lifelong Cardinal fan, and enjoyed attending auctions. John was a great help and friend to many.

Visitation: 8 – 9 am Friday, April 14, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 9 am, Friday, April 14, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial donations may be made to the Elks Crippled Children’s Fund.
