John L. Barlick, III 80, of Springfield, died at 5 am, Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 15, 1936 in Springfield, to John and Kathryn H. VanSacik Barlick, Jr. He married Wanda M. Farley on September 28, 1957 and she survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Janene (Dell) Drumeller of White Hall, Dawn (Jerry) Hirlinger of Springfield and Jackie (David) Carr of St. Louis, MO; one son, John Louis Barlick, IV of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Michelle Ulinski, Andrew Barlick, Amber (Tim) Wright, Samuel Drumeller, Daniel (Jackie) Drumeller, Louie and Jack Hirlinger and Courtney Carr; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Alexis, Colin and Avery Marie; one sister, Kathryn O’Connor of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog, Bentley.

John was a member of St. Agnes Church. He worked as a Gas Utility man and then a Gas Field Supervisor for CILCO for 36 years.

He was a graduate of Lanphier High School where he was the quarterback during his senior year. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving with the Naval Reserves – Sea Bee’S from 1954-1962.

John enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, bowling and wood crafting. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved spending time with his family.

He was a former member of Knights of Columbus and Lions Club and was a member of the Lanphier Dinner Club and the Springfield German Club.

Visitation: 9-11 am, Friday, March 18, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.

Private Graveside Service: A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
