John Joseph Kohlrus, 74, of Riverton, died at 3:55 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born September 19, 1941 in Springfield, to Mike and Frances H. Berry Kohlrus.
Survivors include two sisters, Darlene Perna and Patricia Kohlrus Jones both of Riverton; two brothers, Michael (Doris) Kohlrus and Ronald (Carolyn) Kohlrus both of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a practicing Catholic. He was an avid golfer and runner. He enjoyed classic movies, crosswords and Sudoku.
He was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He worked for LLC Myerson as a commercial Artist and Graphic Artist for over thirty years.
Graveside Service: 1 pm, Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Simmons Cancer Institute, for research.

I worked with John many years ago and I cannot say I have ever met a kinder person. I just found out today about his passing and wanted to tell his family how sorry I am. John was a wonderful artist who is truly missed!
