SPRINGFIELD – John Jack Pendleton, 79, of Springfield died at 6:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Springfield, the son of Wade Edward and Anna Waers Pendleton. He married Helen K. Mrosko on Oct. 31, 1958.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Dick; and two sisters, Annette McCurley and Betty George.
He is survived by his wife, Helen K. Pendleton of Springfield; a daughter, Jennifer Jo (Carter) Johnson of Chatham; a son, James W. (Erin) Pendleton of Chatham; six grandchildren,
Tyler, Seth, Nicholas, Zachary, Mia and Olivia K.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was a gas engineer specialist for CILCO, retiring after 13 years of service.
He was a member of Rochester Christian Church and was active with children’s sports. He loved working outside and enjoyed golf and working at Bunn Golf Course. He was a terrific singer.
The family will host a memorial gathering from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Rochester Christian Church, with the Rev. David Upchurch officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Prairie Heart Institute in honor of Dr. Dove.
