SPRINGFIELD – John J. Jack Stanks, 58, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died at 3 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, in Park Forest.
He was born May 29, 1949, in Springfield, the son of Leo and Marjorie Clay Stanks.
Mr. Stanks was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed riding his Harley. He also enjoyed spending time with his two German shepherds, Congo and Onyx. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during Vietnam.
Surviving are his parents, Leo and Marjorie Stanks of Springfield; a sister, Lisa (husband, Tom) Duffy of Osceola, Ind.; two nieces, Kennedy and Cassidy Duffy; several aunts, uncles and cousins; companion, Julie Anderson of Springfield; and a son.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayers at 4 p.m. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home, with Father Michael Haag officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.
