SHERMAN – John E. Murray, 89, of Sherman passed away at St. John’s Hospice on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007.
He was born June 17, 1918, in Pittsburgh, the son of John Murray and Susan McGuckin. He married Marcella Sally Landwehr on May 25, 1942, at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart Church in Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randall J. Murray; and a brother, James Murray.
Mr. Murray was a member of St. John Vianney Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He worked as a sign artist in Pittsburgh for 45 years. John enjoyed gardening, watercolor painting, reading and golf. He loved family gatherings, nature, history and everything Irish.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Sally, of Sherman; three daughters, Sharon (husband, Jim) Fulginiti of Sherman, Denise (husband, Tom) Nudo of Sherman and Nancy (husband, Harry) Bruce of Pittsburgh; and three grandchildren, Christopher Bruce and Katie and Brianna Fulginiti.
The family welcomes friends to visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 S. Fifth St., with a prayer service at 4:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Officiating clergy will be Monsignor Carl Kemme, V.G.
