John Christian, Jr.

John Christian, Jr., 82, of Riverton, died at 2:57 am, Friday, November 10, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1935 in Witt, IL to John and Mary Jane (Diggle) Christian.

Surviving are two daughters, Marisue (Richard) Kueper and Judianne Christian, both of Riverton; one son, John (Nicky) Christian III of Riverton; four grandchildren, Laura, Hayley, Katie (Jaron) and Bryce; three great grandchildren, Connor, Heidi and Scarlett.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Connie Christian and Mary Langenfeld.

John was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked at Witt Public Schools as a teacher, coach and principal. He also worked at the Illinois Department of Public Aid and Springfield golf course. He was a certified alcohol and drug counselor. John was a Die Hard Cubs and Riverton Hawks Fan. He formerly served as Village Trustee in Riverton.

The family will host a Celebration of Life from 4 – 7 pm Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at St. James Church Parish Hall in Riverton, IL.

Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
