John B. Knoedler, 61, of Springfield, died at 10:58 am, Sunday April 16, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born August 28, 1955 in Springfield to Robert and Genevieve Dold Knoedler. His father preceded him in death on November 23, 2013. He married Theresa Freymuth on May 27, 1978 and she survives.
Also surviving are his three sons, Justin (Ann) Knoedler, Jason (Melissa) Knoedler and Joseph (Lizzie) Knoedler, all of Springfield; four grandchildren, Colten, Claire, C.J. and Brice Knoedler; mother, Genevieve Knoedler of Springfield; three brothers, Bob (Tina) Knoedler of Maggie Valley, NC, Don (Debbie) Knoedler of Springfield and Jim (Karen) Knoedler of Springfield; one aunt, Helen “Toots” Knoedler of Springfield and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
John was a graduate of Griffin High School and had attended Springfield College and Lincoln Land Community College. He was a member of St. Agnes Church and was a former board member of the Springfield Southwest Baseball Association. John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was employed by the State of Illinois, Department of Children and Family Services for over 30 years. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at St. Agnes Church.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. Agnes Church with Reverend Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
