Joe Alan Hollinshead, 63, of Springfield died at 8:05 pm, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at his home. He was born November 21, 1948 in Farina, IL to Ray J. and Imogene Rogers Hollinshead. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents
Surviving are his ex-wife, Brenda Morgan of Sherman; a step-daughter, Sara (Brad) Clark of Springfield; a step-son, Mike (Jill) Morgan of Williamsville; mother, Imogene Hollinshead of Salem; three sisters, Dana (Dan) Underwood of Sherman, Linda Hollinshead-Ingram of Edwards, MO and Dreama (Dennis) Robinson of Lake Station, IN; two brothers, David (Kathy) Hollinshead of Teutopolis and Alan (Becky) Hollinshead of Salem, IL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was a member of Sullivan Lutheran Church, VFW 10302, motorcyclists, and the American Legion in Sullivan. He graduated from Farina High School. Joe served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a recruiter for several years and worked in communications in Italy. He was a retired Sangamon County Correctional officer and retired from the Army National Guard. He worked with Lincoln’s Challenge.
Visitation: 4-7 pm Monday August 6, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am Tuesday August 7, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

JUst wanted to tell you again I miss you and love you. I know when you are around because I can smell you. I think you know that I'm having a hard time and you are there to say everything is OK. I seen you are all white haeaded now and partly gray. I'm will tell you again,I'm doing my best doing what you told me to do in April. Now I understand why you did,n want a garden this year and not making more Army shirts for you and much more. You knew. Love Sis

I miss you every day. Its been really hard only living 2 miles apart and seeing you all the time. Dan missing you alot too. I'm so glad we had that talk in April and now I understand. I'm the best That I can Joe the way you wanted things done. I miss huggging you when I come up behind you and surprise you and you always give me your chair. Coming over here eating all the time.

I worked with Joe at the Jail for a couple years. He was great to work with, he taught me a lot, had a great sense of humor, and was just an all around good person!! I was saddened and shocked to hear of his passing. His family, friends, and everyone at SCSO have been in my prayers, and will continue to be. He will be missed by many.

Sorry to hear about the death of Joe. I was a good friend of Joe's for years. He liked to dance and many weekends years ago a bunch of us would go to Effingham to "The Crystal Club" and dance the night away! May he rest in peace and my condolence to his family. Friend Gwen[McCarty]Reid
