Joan Joeanna Brown, 81, of Springfield died at 6:10 am, Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born February 9, 1936 in Harrisburg, IL to Lawson Conrad and Anna Elizabeth (Bender) Nichols. Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Douglas W. (Kim) Brown of Springfield; one daughter, Dana (Ron) Homann of Springfield; six grandchildren: Jenna (Ryan) Davlin, Cory, Ryan and Sara Brown all of Springfield, Connor Homann of Springfield and Rachael Homann of Chicago; four great-grandchildren, Nolan, Nora, Lane and Clare; one sister, Betty (Paul) Hagedorn of Medford, OR and several nieces and nephews.
Joan moved to Springfield in 1944 and resided in both Taylor Springs and Springfield over the years. She worked as a nurse for the State of IL Department of Corrections for 13 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and watching westerns.
Memorial Gathering: 9 – 10 am, Monday, June 12, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Memorial Service: 10:00 am, Monday, June 12, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Glen VanderKloot officiating. Inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
