Joan A. Callahan

Joan A. Callahan, of Springfield, passed away at 2:15 pm, Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on February 8, 1922 in Springfield to Mathies and Ottilia (Hagele) Rothemel. She married John K. Callahan and he preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death are her parents; three brothers, Harold, George, and Leo Rothemel and one sister, Delores Winkler.

She is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joan worked for many years at the Department of Transportation and retired with them. She loved her cats and was involved in many activities at the Church of the Little Flower.

Visitation: 10-11:15 am, Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Church of the Little Flower.

Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Church of the Little Flower with Reverend Allen Kemme officiating.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Animal Protective League.
