SPRINGFIELD – Jim K. Hill, 56, of Springfield died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1953, in Mayfield, Ky., the son of Charles E. and Jacquetta McCauley Hill.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by companion, Dianna Rodgers of Springfield; a daughter, Marilyn (Jerry) Woodson of Bulpitt; a son, James K. (Kristina) Hill II of Kewanee; four grandchildren, Wayne Sowers, Alexis Hutchens and Nathan and Collen Hill; his mother, Jacquetta Jackie Hill of Springfield; two sisters, Pam (Steve) Roach and Tina (Craig) Jackson, both of Springfield; a brother, Charles Hill of Richmond, Ky.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was a resident of Springfield since he was 7 years old. He was a retired fireman from City of Springfield.
He was a member of the Firefighter/Postal Lake Club and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Association. He loved travel, especially to Mexico, being outdoors, spending time at his river cabin and with his Jack Russell companion, Jack.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League or NASA Education for Military Families.
