SPRINGFIELD – Jessie E. Sheridan, 82, of Springfield passed away Monday, May 4, 2009, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village after a long fight with returning cancer.

She was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, on February 28, 1927. She is the daughter of Willis and Gertrude Williams Benson. She married Philip H. Sheridan Jr. on August 3, 1957, in St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Don Benson.

Jessie met Phil while working at Pepperell Air Force Base in St. John’s as a supervising payroll officer in a civilian position. She was the best housewife and mother, raising her 2 daughters until they graduated high school and then she pursued a career at the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education in Springfield for nine years.
