“Jerri” Etta Roberts – Widow of Erwin “Whistle” Roberts who died March 1998. She was born January 25, 1924 passed away at 7:20 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2016. She lived in Irving, Texas most of her working years, retiring in Mathis, Texas area after several years of traveling with her R.V. friends.
Fishing and working in her yard were her favorite hobbies. She also looked forward to Sundays and being with her church friends. She moved to Springfield, Illinois to be near her sister, Violet Williams and transferred her membership to Bissell United Methodist Church, where she met and enjoyed new friends.
Now we visualize Jerri walking with the Lord and she says “I’m tired. I’ll have to rest awhile.” The Lord says, “since we’re closer to my house than yours, let’s go to my house.”
Surviving are several scattered nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fount and Carrie Simmons Henthorn; one sister, Violet Williams and one brother Eldon “Bud” Simmons.

Since meeting Jeri, my life seems so wonderful. She was the sweetest lady around always looking as she stepped out of a bandbox. I looked forward to Sundays for the special hugs she shared with everyone. She will be dearly missed by all and her pew will seem so empty.
