Jennie Roscetti Mitchell, 102, of Springfield, died at 5:25 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012 at Regency Nursing Care Residence. She was born Zania Roscetti on September 24, 1909 in Dawson, IL to Berardino and Consiglia Antonacci Roscetti. She married Julian P. Mitchell on April 19, 1939 and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1994. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Florence Caparone, Elynore Volk and Claudia Klemaier, and three brothers, Vincent, Arthur and Percy Roscetti.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (William) Utterback of Cape Coral, Florida, a son, Kenneth C. Mitchell of Springfield, (wife Karen Kelly), nine grandchildren, Michael, Derek, Reed and Amy Utterback (Loftis), Todd, Robb, Brett, Ladd and Zemfira Mitchell, ten great-grandchildren, Ryan, Rachael, Matthew, Madison, Kateland Utterback, and Brody, Teagan, Audry, Simon and Calliope Mitchell, one great-great granddaughter and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
As a Franciscan nun at the time (Sister Raphael), Mrs. Mitchell worked as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals in Wisconsin, Moline and Springfield, IL, involved in the Pediatric Departments. Later in life she was the Head Nurse and Administrator at Edward’s Manor Nursing Home in Springfield, IL
Visitation: 9:00-10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at St. Aloysius Church.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at St. Aloysius Church with Reverend John Titus officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Church.
