Jeffrey P. "Jeff" Sheppard

Jeffrey P. “Jeff” Sheppard, 53, of Virginia, died at 9 am, Monday, September 9, 2013 in Virginia. He was born June 20, 1960, in Detroit, MI to Willard Oscar and Nancy A. Vanoothgen Sheppard. He married Michelle Merwin on December 31, 2011 and she survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Courtney Sheppard of Springfield; two sons, Chris (Erika) Sheppard of Algonquin and Adam Sheppard of Springfield; two step-daughters, Amanda (Kevin) Ottwell and Jessica (Matthew) Reid both of Virginia; two step-sons, Trey Eilers and Cole Anderson both of Virginia; six grandchildren, one sister, Nancy (Wayde) Rathgeber of Auburn; three brothers, Doug, (companion: Carla Davis) Sheppard of Columbus, OH, Clifford (Diane) Sheppard of MI and Scott (Tracy) Sheppard of Auburn and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Cameron Sheppard.

Jeff was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion. He was always very physically active. He loved to landscape, cook and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of Teamsters and worked for USF Holland as a Truck Driver.

Visitation: 2-5 pm, Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 12 pm, Monday, September 16, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Hector officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Interveterans and the US Army will conduct military honors.
