Jeannette M. Montooth, 92, Springfield, IL, died at 5:55 a.m., Friday, February 4, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born June 25, 1918 in Findlay, OH, to Harry P. and Etta Bowman Beltz. Jeannette married William R. “Dick” Montooth, Sr. in 1941 and he preceded her in death on April 10, 1982. Also preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by one daughter Cheryl (Samuel) Lipe of Springfield; one son Rick (Jennifer) Montooth of Springfield; three grandchildren, Jay (Lisa) Lipe, Greg Lipe and Brittany Montooth (Companion: William Bettis); three great grandchildren Josiah Lipe, Gracie Lipe and Liam Bettis and several nieces and nephews.
Jeannette was a homemaker; manager of House of Fabrics and worked for twelve years for the State of Illinois Department of Revenue. She was a member of First Christian Church for 62 years, where she taught Junior High Sunday School; was a member of Home Bureau and Eastern Star Lodge in Ohio. She loved knitting, needlepoint, embroidering and sewing. She was an avid sports fan, enjoying the St. Louis Cardinals and high school basketball.
Visitation: 4-6 pm Monday, February 7, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Irwin officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery
