SPRINGFIELD, IL – Janice Eileen Larson, 59, of Springfield died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born October 2, 1950 in Springfield, the daughter of Samuel and Emily Gatschet Burnett. She married David K. Larson in Springfield on July 22, 1972.
Mrs. Larson was a homemaker at the time of her death. She was previously employed as a teacher at Cherry Hills Baptist Church Preschool and prior to that as a teacher with Springfield School District 186.
Mrs. Larson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1972 from Illinois State University at Normal. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Society.
She is a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband David; 2 sons, Allan G. (wife; Kristy) Larson of Atlanta, IL and Douglas B. Larson of Ottawa, IL; 4 grandchildren, Caleb, Matthew, Grace and Isaac Larson; mother Emily Burnett; brother, Daniel (wife; Karen) Burnett of Toledo, OH; 2 sisters, Nancy Farris of California, MO and Kathy Burnett of Springfield; 6 nieces and nephews and 10 grand nieces.
Private family services will be held with Pastor Jeff Nelsen officiating. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jan loved God and Jesus Christ her Savior. She had a strong faith which helped her face the trials of daily life. She loved deeply and was devoted to her husband, boys and family. Jan was a loving, caring nurturing person and she was good at being there for others. She was good at comforting others. She had a sense of humor and was able to brighten people up. She had a real tender spot, especially for children and the elderly. Jan’s love will be greatly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and family.
