SPRINGFIELD, IL- Janice Eileen Boone, 75, of Springfield, died at 4:55 pm, Friday, December 9, 2016 at Regency Care. She was born August 25, 1941 in Springfield, the daughter of Forest and Thelma (Fry) Dakin. She married Charles Boone in 1980 in Sherman and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons Gary (Derlie) Davis and Eric (Patricia) Davis both of Springfield; two step-daughters, Lisa Fritz of Milwaukee, WI and Lori Boone of Springfield; four grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Jean (Tom) Pierce of Tallahassee, FL; one niece, Julia (Scott) Stake of Tallahassee, FL; three great nieces and one great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Boone retired from the Illinois Department of Public Aid in 2002, after 31 years in state government and eight years as a legal assistant for several attorneys.

She was a member of West Side Christian Church, a former member of Country Gamblers Dance Club, and a former Samaritan at St. John’s Hospital.

Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.

Funeral Service: 12 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with Vaughn Beeman Officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
