Janice A. Syverson, 71, of Springfield, died at 5:05 am, Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born March 30, 1941 in Springfield, IL to Floyd and Ruth Gills Milby. She married Richard Harry Syverson on March 20, 1965. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first child, Baby Paul Syverson.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; three sons, John (Dawn) Syverson of Hawthorn Woods, Greg (Vicki) Syverson of Pachuca, Mexico and David (Ehrengard) Syverson of Berlin, Germany; six grandchildren, Mark, Nicole, Benjamin, Matthew, Philipp and Jacob; one sister, Betty Ruth (Jack) Hoellerich of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janice was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church. She loved to sing and was a member of the church choir for many years. She served as a Deaconess, and was a preschool teacher for thirteen years. Janice loved genealogy and was a charter member of the Chatham Chapter of the DAR, a member of the Daughters of 1812 and a member of the Sons of Norway. She was a 1963 graduate of North Park College in Chicago, IL. Vocationally, she was a homemaker and teacher.
Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Lie-in-State: 9:00 – 10:00 am, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Cherry Hills Baptist Church.

Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Nelsen officiating. Burial will follow at Wood Wreath Cemetery.
