Jane Margaret Hansberry Caldwell, 81, of New Berlin, died at 8:47 pm, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home, after a long illness, surrounded by her family. She was born Jane Margaret Hansberry on August 6, 1932 in Nashua, NH, the daughter of Martin J and Mary Katherine O’Neil Hansberry. Jane was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Nashua, NH. She married Ralph A. Caldwell, Sr. on June 23, 1956 in Nashua, NH and he preceded her in death. Together they had fifty-one wonderful years together and seven children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons, Mathew G., Richard J. and Robert J. Caldwell; three brothers, Martin J. Hansberry, Thomas S. Hansberry and Owen Hansberry; two sisters, Mary Amelio and Patricia Bernier.

Jane was survived by four children, Mary-Jane (Russell) Ledbetter, Ralph (Luann) Caldwell, Jr., Patti (Greg) Irwin and Kathy (Bob) Burton; Eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and sister, Ann T. Bergeron.

Jane worked as a Radiology Assistant for eighteen years at Memorial Medical Center.

Jane was the best wife, mom and grandmother you could ask for. She always had a smile on her face. She was loved and adored by her children and grandchildren. She never met a stranger and never had a harsh word for anyone. She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots! She loved to travel and she and her family saw many different places around the United States. She also enjoyed dancing and playing BINGO. She enjoyed shopping, especially at Christmas time, for those she loved. She made sure all of us knew how much she loved us.

Visitation: 5-7 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5 pm.

Funeral Mass: 10 am, Friday, April 4, 2014 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association for Research.
