James "Jim" T. Pedigo

James “Jim” T. Pedigo, 73, of Springfield, died at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016 at his home. He was born April 17, 1942 in Springfield to Aaron “Pete” and Faustina Huffman Pedigo. He married Maureen Francis Meehan on May 15, 1965.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald Pedigo and a brother-in-law, Patrick Meehan.

Surviving are his wife, Maureen; three daughters, Laura (Robert) Kinney of Chatham, Stephanie Pedigo of Springfield and Jennifer (Bryon) Dougherty of Fayetteville, GA; four grandchildren, Robbie, Alyssa, Jimmy and Nicole; sister-in-law, Kathleen (Martin) McLaughlin of Chicago; brother-in-law, Mike Meehan of Greenview; three aunts, Jane and Eula Huffman both of Springfield and Lois (Wayne) Shanle of Riverton; one uncle, Merle Huffman of CA and he was the favorite uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Jim was a member of St. Joseph the Worker parish. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He also retired from the Illinois Air National Guard 183rd Fighter Wing in 2002 after 41 years as a logistics SMSGT. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #4169. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, playing cards working on fishing boats and boating and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. It was his pride and joy being a loving family man.

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm Friday, February 5, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 4 pm.

Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Chatham with Fr. John Nolan officiating.

Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Park Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.

Memorials may be made to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
