James “Jim” Beck, 78, of Springfield, died at 9:10 am, Monday, August 29, 2011 at Villa East in Sherman. He was born on July 9, 1933 in Springfield, IL to Charles and Marie Golden Beck. He married Patricia Casey on July 30, 2001 and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Joe) Crifasi of St. Louis, MO, and Kelly Holdman of Sherman, two sons, Steven (Tracy) Beck of Sarasota, FL and Kevin (Becky) Beck of Chatham, IL, two step sons, Michael Drabing of Illinois and Mark (Faye) Drabing of Texas, seven granddaughters and one grandson, one great grandson and one great granddaughter, one step granddaughter and one step great granddaughter two nephews, Tim and John Beck and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Beck.
Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Church, attended Feitschans’ High School and was a Yankee, Cubs and Bears fan. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, and a member of American Legion Post #32. He worked at Sangamo Electric; owned Becks Pond in Glenarm and also was owner of Advance Cleaning Service for over 35 years.
Visitation: 9-10 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Peter Harman officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
