James J. “Jim” Meredith, Jr., 47 of Danville, died at 12:17 am, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born May 7, 1968, in Springfield to James Joseph and Berta Louise Muller Meredith, Sr.

He is survived by his parents, James (May) Meredith, Sr. of Chatham and Bertha “Bert” Meredith of Springfield; two daughters, Haley Meredith of New Berlin and Matisen Pickford of Petersburg; three brothers, Robert Meredith of Springfield, Brian S. Meredith of Birmingham, AL and Craig (Joni) Meredith of Springfield and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse and Mildred Meredith and Elizabeth and Joseph Muller; two Uncles Jesse Meredith and Joseph Muller and one Aunt Gloria Fletcher.
Jim was of the Catholic Faith. He had been a resident of Danville for five years and previously of Springfield.

He was a graduate of Griffin High School and was a US Navy veteran serving from 1988-1992 on the USS Truitt.

He previously worked as a plumber with Local #137 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters.

Visitation: 11 am – 2:30 pm, Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 2:30 pm, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Jesse Meredith officiating.

Graveside service: 1 pm, Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Inter-Veterans and the US Navy will conduct military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.
