SPRINGFIELD – James E. Housley, age 73, of Springfield, IL died at St. John’s Hospice on Friday, July 23, 2010.
He was born on July 22, 1937, in Springfield, the son of Emery ‘Pete’ and Winnifred Lavin Housley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David; and a nephew, Jeff Housley.
He is survived by a son, Dan L. (wife, Kim) Housley of Rochester; 7 grandchildren, Meghann, Luke and Sydney Housley and Calin, Taylor, Sela and Seth Cronin; and a brother, Bob (wife, Rita) Housley of Springfield.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, an Army veteran serving during Vietnam, member of DAV, and was a lifelong Notre Dame fan. He retired after 37 years as a postal carrier from the U.S. Postal Service.
A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Sacred Heart Church, with Monsignor John Ossola, officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Interveterans will conduct military honors.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Hospice.
