SPRINGFIELD – James E. Houser, 73, of
Springfield died at 3 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at home with his son by his side.
He was born May 6, 1937, in Lanesville, the son of Amos Otto and Sarah Catherine McNutt Houser. He married Sharon Pittman on July 2, 1960; she preceded him in death in March 2007.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Janie Lou and Virginia; and a brother, Benny
He is survived by a son, Tracy Houser of Springfield; a sister, Beatrice (Hugh) Waldron of Tampa, Fla.; and three brothers, Dewey Houser of Rochester and Roy Houser and Richard Houser, both of Riverton.
James was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was the founder and owner of Houser Window Cleaning Corporation for 50 years.
James was a former member of West Side Baptist Church and a member of Kool Kruizers and Route 66 Cruisers. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home, with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Tallula, where military honors will be conducted by the Menard County Interveterans Burial Detail.
