SPRINGFIELD – Jack Edward Schroeder, 74, of Springfield died at 9:06 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Springfield, the son of George and Laura Mae Refine Schroeder. He married Patricia Nierhoff on Jan. 29, 1955.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Benjamin Schroeder; and two sisters, Mary Louise Hennessey and Roberta Cousin.
Mr. Schroeder, a lifelong resident of Springfield, retired from Ironworkers Local 46.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Church, past member of Eagles Club and was active in Aqua Sports Club. He loved to work at all of the church functions and loved to cook and bowl.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Schroeder of Springfield; a daughter, Jacqueline Suzanne (husband, Lester David) Cheveallier of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; five sons, Terry Eugene (wife, Pamela K.) Schroeder of Tuscola and Stephen Edward (wife, Debbie), Daniel Patrick (wife, Terri), Mark William (wife, Helen) and Lawrence Timothy (wife, Alice) Schroeder, all of Springfield; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Schroeder of Oklahoma City; four brothers, George (wife, Joyce) Schroeder of Oklahoma, James (companion, Gertrude) and Joseph (wife, Mary Lou) Schroeder, both of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at St. Aloysius Church, with the Rev. Mark Schulte officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital or St. Aloysius Church.
