Jack Dolan, Jr., 91, of Springfield, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away June 16, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Jack was born in Hartford City, IN on March 8, 1925. He was the child of Jack Dolan, Sr. and Mary Hummer Dolan. His brother, Jim Dolan, has been a lifelong best friend. They both loved the Boy Scouts of America and reached Eagle Scout as well as attending the first national Boy Scout Jamboree.
Jack went into the Army Air Corps as a Flight Navigator directly following high school graduation. He served from 1943-1946. He proudly navigated 30 missions over “The Hump” in India and China. After the war, he graduated from Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1948 and became a business leader through 31 years with General Motors Acceptance Corporation and 10 years with Citizens National Bank in Decatur. In this capacity, he established the first ATM locations for the bank. Jack’s community service included the Boy Scouts (Silver Beaver Award), American Legion, Elk’s Club, Millikin Associates, and Rotary Club. He is a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Decatur, IL.
Jack married Ruth Ellen (Kick) DeVoe in Muncie, IN in 1948. They have four children: Beth Duffey, Jack III (Julie), Jim (Virginia), and Amy (Todd) Beck. He will be sadly missed by them, as well as by his grandchildren: Hideaki, Ryan, Kelby, Noah, Jena and Megan. He later married Barbara Bridges and greatly enjoyed his stepchildren, Jan (Jane) and Marti Bridges. He has 4 great grandchildren. His wives, Kick and Barbara, and his first grandchild, Jeanie Karita, preceded him in death.
Jack was a boisterously avid Cubs fan in good years and bad. He was passionate about college basketball, especially Indiana University. He loved a good round of golf – and the bad ones, too. Family remembers him for his smiling, sunny manner. He loved to sing out in his later years, even to his final days.
A visitation will be held at his final and beloved residence, the Illinois Presbyterian Home, 2005 W. Lawrence, at 2:30 pm on Sunday, June 19th followed by a service at 4 pm. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to Illinois Presbyterian Home.

So sorry for your loss. Didn't have the privilege of knowing him for too long but enjoyed the conversations we had.
