FORT LEWIS, Wash. – Jack Allen Gallaher, 24, of Fort Lewis and a lifelong resident of Springfield died at 4:54 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at Tacoma (Wash.) General Hospital.
He was born July 13, 1983, in Springfield, the son of Jack E. Gallaher Jr. and Christine Carpenter Smith.
Mr. Gallaher was a soldier in the U.S. Army. He joined the Army Sept. 20, 2005, during which time he served in Korea for a year. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed jogging, riding dirt bikes and camping with friends. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Keesha. He was an organ donor.
Surviving are his mother, Christine Smith (fiance, Barry Ritter) of Springfield; father, Jack Gallaher of Springfield; two sisters, Brittany Smith and Sydney Ritter, both of Springfield; half sister, Zoey Ritter of Springfield; brothers Hunter and Dakota Ritter, both of Springfield; half brother, Skyler Gallaher of Springfield; grandparents, Paul and Sharon Carpenter of Springfield and Madeline Huffman of Springfield; several aunts and uncles, including Leann Gallaher-Fox of Springfield and Paul (wife, Casey) Carpenter of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor Clint Cook officiating. Committal services will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the U.S. Army will conduct military honors.
