J. "Joe" Joseph Hill

J. Joseph “Joe” Hill, 72, of Riverton, died at 11:31 am, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at his home. He was born January 28, 1944 in Springfield, to Clifford and Edith Shockey Hill.

Survivors include one son, William Joseph (Barbara) Hill of Williamsville; three grandchildren, Cassie, Ryan and Jonathan Hill; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Linda (Bob) Jones of Pontiac, IL and Nancy (Tony) Klespitz of New Berlin; his two beloved dogs, Champ and Molly and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Cork and Terry Hill.

Joe was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the National Fraternal Order of the Moose and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He worked for the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.

Memorial Gathering: 10:30 – 11:30 am, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Williamsville Christian Church.

Memorial Service: 11:30 am, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Williamsville Christian Church with Pastor David Beals officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail and the US Army will conduct military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or the Animal Protective League
