SPRINGFIELD – Irma June Miller, 86, of Springfield, formerly of Elkhart, died at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at her residence.
She was born July 22, 1922, in Lake Fork, the daughter of Scott W. and Mabel Winchester Turner. She married William Amos Miller on March 15, 1941; he preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1985.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, William A. Miller Jr. and Ralph Eugene Miller; two sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (David) Doom of Springfield; a son, Dennis Lee Miller of Springfield; two granddaughters, Natalie M. (Matt) Beck and Kristina L. (James) Martin; three grandsons, James Miller, Anthony (Amy) Miller and Thomas Miller; a sister, Betty J. Sias of Springfield; a brother, Billy D. (Carolyn J.) Turner of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Irma was a resident of Springfield since 1985.
She was a homemaker and worked for two years at the Illiopolis Defense Ammunition Plant.
She was a member of West Side Christian Church, past member of Order of the Eastern Star, and Logan County Farm Bureau. She served as the neighborhood mom and grandma. She enjoyed reading.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Charlie Lee officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
