Irene J. Teyshak

Irene J. Teyshak, 92, of Springfield, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at her home, after a long battle with cancer. Irene was born September 18, 1923 in Chatham, the daughter of Albert and Kathleen (Dodd) Black. She married John M. Teyshak on May 18, 1952 and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2000.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, son Jerome “Jerry” Teyshak and sister Ethel Buehler.

Irene was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield and Cathedral Council of Catholic Woman. She was active in the Republican Ladies Club and Republican politics. She graduated from Brown Business College and worked as a bookkeeper at Charles C. Thomas Publishing Company and retired after twenty years, and then worked for five years at the Sangamon County Republican Headquarters.

Irene is survived by son, Joseph Teyshak of Springfield; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends and by her dearest loving and caring adopted daughter, of more than forty years, Janice Estes of Springfield and all the other caring people in her life.

Doris Teyshak will always be remembered for her kindness as she was by her side when her husband passed. A special thanks goes to her dear friend and caregiver, Patty Rhodes, of Springfield and her dear friend, John Hampton, of Springfield, who was a caregiver for her and her beloved dog “Angel” that was always by her side.

Visitation: 9-11 am, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Seth Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
