SPRINGFIELD – Irene Frances Turner, 86, of Springfield died at 1:57 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born Jan. 31, 1922, in St. Charles, Mo., the daughter of Lloyd and Elsie Norred Moomey. She married Willard F. Turner in 1946; he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Dorothy Ealey.
Mrs. Turner, a resident of Springfield since 1941, was a homemaker. She was a member of Springfield Ski and Boat Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra K. Turner of Springfield; two sons, Allen Lee (wife, Nga) Turner of Tamuning, Guam, and Dean Duane (wife, Janice) Turner of Littleton, Colo.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby (husband, John) Farmer of Springfield and Beverly (husband, Jerry) Bumgarner of Concord; two brothers, William Owen (wife, Rowena) Moomey of Sarasota, Fla., and Gerald Lloyd Bud (wife, Mary) Moomey of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home with Chaplain Tom Novy officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
