SPRINGFIELD – Hermina W. Shea, 83, of
Springfield died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Oak Terrace.
She was born Nov. 2, 1925, of St. Louis, the daughter of John and Antonia Kos Wagner. She married Fred C. Shea on April 25, 1959; he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1988.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John; and a sister, Frieda Mathias.
She is survived by three daughters, Joan (Richard) Rogers, Mary (Dr. Shannon R.) Cummins and Barbara Shea, all of Springfield; a son, Stephen (Karen) Shea of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Ryan, Andrew, Megan, Sean, Nolan and Eilise; two sister-in-laws, Rosemary (Frank) Balkenbush of Springfield and JoAnn Shea of Hanover, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Hermina was raised in Virden and upon marriage moved to Springfield. She worked for Franklin Life for 16 years and then was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Altar and Rosary Society and the Cathedral choir.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at St. Agnes Church, with the
Rev. Peter Harman officiating. Burial will be at
