SPRINGFIELD – Helen Marie Harris, 84, of Springfield died at 10:01 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Springfield, the daughter of Edward and Della McKinney Thompson. She married Jack L. Harris on April 5, 1941.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 10 brothers and sisters; and a son, Gary L. Harris, he was 55 years of age.
She is survived by her husband, Jack L. Harris; two daughters, Nancy (Richard) Galbraith of Sun City, Ariz. and Gail L. (William Randall) Hodgson of Springfield; a son, Michael B. (Patricia) Harris of Des Arc, Ark.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Powell of Sweetwater.
Helen was a life long resident of Springfield. She was the assistant manager of House of Natural Living for 10 years. She was a homemaker and she also worked for one year at Lyman’s Title and License Service.
She was very active in Washington Street Mission as a child. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Private services will be held with Pastor Clint Cook officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made for Cancer Research.
