Helen A. Huelsman, 90, of Springfield, died at 2:55 am, Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice. This was the same date and hour her mother passed away in 1966. She was born June 13, 1922 in Springfield, to Emil and Anna Hanke Gietl. She married Larry H. Huelsman in 1944 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1991.
Her parents; five brothers, and four sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include four children, Larry J. Huelsman of Springfield, Barb (William) Hattendorf of Brookfield, WI, Eddie L. (Penny) Huelsman of Plano, TX and Mary Louise (Ron) Parker of Springfield; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one brother Bill Gietl of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She worked as a Personnel Officer for the Secretary of State, retiring after twenty years.
Visitation: 11am – 12:30 pm Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Funeral Mass: 12:30 pm, Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Jeff Grant Officiating.
Burial will be held at 10 am, Monday, February 25, 2013 at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Leukemia Society or St. John’s Hospice.

My thoughts & prayers are sent to all of the family. Aunt Helen was a very special person in our life, Helen & I were treated like her own daughters, with open arms in good times & bad. So sorry that I couldn't be there in person, but her memory lives on in my heart.
