Hattie Marie Turner, 90, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.
Marie was born on December 28, 1920 to Lester and Velma Morrow in Gregory, KY. Marie’s life was characterized by her faith and service to family and community including: Supervisor for Sangamon County Central Services, Licensed Realtor, Republican Precinct Committeewoman, Volunteer for the Kings Daughters, and Lay Minister for Kumler United Methodist Church, focusing on Kumler Outreach Ministry. Marie was preceded in death by her son Richard Marr, brother Howard Morrow, husband John (Jack)Turner, and daughter Sharon McGrath. She is survived by one sister – Eva Craggs; two daughters – Janet Williams and Meg (Don) Running; three step children – Tara (Dave) Strawn, John Turner, and Pat (Randy) Holloway; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
Marie was an active member of Kumler United Methodist Church until her death.
Visitation: 11a.m.-12p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Kumler United Methodist Church.
Funeral Service: 12 noon, Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Kumler United Methodist Church, with Reverend Sylvester Weatherall officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Kumler Food Pantry.
