Harvey Junior Anders, 86, of Springfield, died at 9:15 pm, Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at his home. He was born April 29, 1926 in Springfield, to Harvey William and Della Bridgewater Anders. He married Barbara Jean Boehner and she preceded him in death on July 15, 2012.
His parents; three sisters, Dorothy Cook, Alice Anders and Juanita Burt and three brothers, James, Paul and Howard “Skeets” Anders also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn (Gary) Dodd and Jody Martinie both of Springfield; six sons, John (Vicki) Barnard of St. Charles, MO, James (Joyce) Barnard of Springfield, Steven (Companion: Mary Chapman) Anders of Springfield, Gerald (Nancy) Barnard of Chesapeake, VA, Michael (Marcia) Barnard of Springfield and Jay (Janice) Barnard of Springfield; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harvey was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Elm Street Christian Church. He enjoyed music and played the guitar and harmonica. He also, enjoyed traveling, camping, boating and fishing. Mr. Anders retired from Anderson Concrete as a maintenance worker and was formerly a truck driver and welder
Visitation: 10 am – 12:30 pm, Monday, March 18, 2013 at Elm Street Christian Church.
Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Monday, March 18, 2013 at Elm Street Christian Church with Paul Cox officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to Elm Street Christian Church Mission Fund.
