Harry Kenneth Reid, Jr., 72, of Sherman, died at 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 15, 1938 in Birmingham, AL to Harry Kenneth and Ruby Mae Turner Reid, Sr. They precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law E.B. Craig.
Harry was previously married to Penny Grobelnik, with whom he has two children, Tracy (Michael) McGrew of Springfield and Christopher Robert (Heather) Reid of Pleasant Plains. He then married Christianna Mosher in November 1982, and together they have two children, Kali Christianna Mai-ly Reid of Sherman and Kenneth John(Fiance: Amy Waskow) Reid of Springfield. Also surviving him are a granddaughter, Taylor McGrew, 2 grandsons, Grant Owen Reid, 1 sister, Jacqueline Craig of Huntsville, AL, a brother-in-law, John (Sue) Mosher of Springfield, IL, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. After serving his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, stationed in Hawaii as an aggressor training instructor, Harry worked for Fiat Allis for 16 years and at St. John’s Hospital as a Security Officer for 30 years.
Harry enjoyed playing with his dachshunds Jazzy and Dolly. He was a huge Alabama football fan and a diehard Cub fan and loved spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with a funeral service at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be held. Memorials may be made to the family to be used for animal rescue or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
