Gracie Madonia Garbin, 91, died Friday, April 7, 2017, at Centennial Point. She was born March 2, 1926 in Springfield, to Salvatore “Sam” and Grace (Leone) Madonia.
She is survived by two sisters: Mary O’Donnell of Escondido, CA and Nancy Ryan of Springfield, one brother, Jasper (Rachel) Madonia of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gracie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Tony, Joseph “Peno” and Sevet; four sisters, Rose, Angie Fox, Josephine, and Agnes Hill.
Gracie was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and an Alumni of Ursuline Academy. She was a member of the Alpha Iota Sorority. She worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue as an Administrative Assistant for 27 years, prior to working for the state she worked at City Water Light & Power for 5 years.
Visitation: 9:30-10:15 am, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Church in Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Church in Springfield with Reverend Steve Janoski officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
