SPRINGFIELD – Goldie M. Coleman, 91, of Springfield died at 5:37 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital where she was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 1, 1917, in Springfield, the daughter of Frank and Goldie M. Merrick Honigman. She married LaVern H. Coleman on Aug. 24, 1945; he preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1975.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Frances Sanny Wilcox and a brother, Ralph Honigman.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (husband, Bob) Heitz of Loami; a son, Charles (wife, Shirlee) Coleman of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Bridget (husband, Joey) Burshears, Brooke and Michael Heitz, Tracee, Christine, Patrick, Andrew and Benjamin Coleman; two great-grandchildren, Maddie Burshears and Shelby Clever; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Goldie was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She worked as a homemaker.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. David Hoefler officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Regency Nursing Care Residence Memorial Scholarship Fund.
