Glenys C. Roberts-Hamer, 57, of Chatham, IL, died at her home at 4:50 pm Sunday, October 31, 2010. She was born on June 20, 1953 in Wales, the daughter of John Charles and Enid Gertrude Jones Roberts. She married James T. Jim Hamer on November 25, 1977 and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
A Springfield resident since 1978, she was formerly of Rushville. She worked as a teller at Town and Country Bank.
She is survived by 3 sons, Andy (Mindy) Wisecup of Rochester, Chris Wisecup and William Hamer of Chatham; 6 grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; 2 step-daughters, Linda (Alan) Niederer of Wentzville, MO and Lisa Hamer of St. Charles, MO and a step son, Christopher (Molly) Hamer of O’Fallon, MO; 1 sister, Sheila Harris of Aberdeen, Scotland and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church and served as a lay pastor with the Presbyterian Church for many years. She was an avid reader, and was a Green Bay Packers fan.
Memorial Gathering: 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with Sandi Woodard, CLP, officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
