Glenwood Ray Lamb

Glenwood Ray Lamb, 97, of Springfield, formerly of Oglesby, died at 7:33 am, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Concordia Village. He was born on October 16, 1920 on a farm near Milford, Iowa to Ray and Caroline (Hardy) Lamb. He married Elsie Robertson at the First Methodist Church in Iowa City, Iowa on July 2, 1950, and she preceded him in death in 2010.

Survivors include one son, Arnold (Dwayla) Lamb of Highland, IN; one daughter, Nancy (Tom) Quigley of Springfield; four grandchildren, Shane Quigley, Erin (Jacob) Parsons, Rebekah Lamb, and Stephanie (Robert) Black; three great grandchildren, Julia and Autumn Parsons and Carlin Quigley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Terry; three brothers and three sisters.

Glen was a United States Army veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of 1st United Methodist Church in Springfield and formerly was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in LaSalle, IL. He was involved in the Department Store retail business for forty years. He managed stores in Illinois and Indiana for Carson Pirie Scott and Company in seven different communities. He transferred to Chicago and served the company in the corporate office for the last six years of his career.

He liked golfing, and very much enjoyed dancing and traveling with Elsie. He was also an avid Cubs fan.

Visitation: 6:00 – 7:00 pm Monday January 22, 2018 at Concordia Village.

Funeral Service: 7:00 pm Monday January 22, 2018 at Concordia Village with Pastor Nicole Cox officiating.
