Ginger Lee Ward, 71, of Springfield died at 8:58 am, Friday, March 30, 2018 at Regency Nursing Care Residence. She was born on December 29, 1946 in Springfield to Meredith Copper and Laura Ann (Strasma) Ward.

Surviving are a daughter, Lori Ann (Rick) Johnson Chapman of Tallula; son, James A. (Georgiann) Johnson of Springfield; two grandchildren, Colin Chapman and Cole Johnson; sister, Joann (Bob) Gorsich of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She graduated from Memorial Hospital’s School of Nursing in 1967 and in 1990 received her bachelor’s degree. She worked at Fort Leonard Wood Hospital with Vietnam vets. In 1990, she received her National Oncology Certification.

Ginger was a member and past president of the Oncology Nursing Society.

She retired from Memorial Medical Center Oncology Department after 40 + years of service and where she assisted in starting the infusion unit.

Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Monday, April 2, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Nicole Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
