RIVERTON – Gina M. Ippolito, 89, of Riverton died at 9:10 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at
Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Springfield, the daughter of Jerome and Gilda Andreatta Bordignon. She married Ralph Joseph Ippolito Sr. on April 26, 1952; he preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ralph Joseph Ippolito Jr.; her brother, Livio Bordignon; sister, Enes Barlick; and her twin brother, August Barney Bordignon.
She is survived by a son, John J. Jerry (Jennie) Ippolito of Taylorville; four grandchildren, Dominic (Amy) Ippolito of Detroit, Felicity (Joe) Congdon of St. Louis and Darrian and Angelina Ippolito, both of Taylorville; a great-grandchild, Mason Ippolito; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gina was a life long resident of the Springfield area. She was a homemaker and previously worked at Sangamo Electric as an assembler.
She was a member of St. James Church in Riverton, where she was an active volunteer serving and assisting with many luncheons. She was also a member of St. Anthony’s guild. She spent a majority of her life caring for her children, especially Ralph Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with prayer at 4:45 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at St. James Church in Riverton, with the
Rev. Joseph G. Ring officiating. Burial will be at
Camp Butler National Cemetery.
